Synopsis

“Aurora Mercedes Webster ‘Grandma’ resides on the densely populated 37 squared mile island of Saint Martin, in the Netherlands Antilles. ‘Grandma’ has devoted 43 years of her life to which she adopts, feeds and looks after homeless and neglected children. The local government does not recognize the work ‘Grandma’ and her family have accomplished and having to suffice with few donations most of the funding comes from their own pockets. Saint Martin’s economy is largely funded by tourism, so sometimes the most vulnerable children fall through the cracks.” Previously screened at one of our screening events, these words open the endearing 8min long documentary “Mother of Saint Martin” by Thomas Wood.
